The interlude books noted in the text book list have been added to the study list to enhance the theme of the year and the themes of the lessons which are read in common. This year, Year C the interlude books will be, Beyond a Binary God, Tara K. Soughers and the Cross and the Lynching Tree, James H. Cone The following alternate selection chosen by EfM Canada staff, Radical Spirit - 12 Ways to Live a Free and Authentic Life, Joan Chittister, is being suggested as an alternative to the James Cone book

The fee for the year is $350 for a student in a sponsoring diocese. {EfM Online is considered to be part of a Sponsoring Diocese, so the fee for Online students is also, $350.00.} This fee will include the cost of the Reading and Reflection Guide, and its shipping costs, the mentor fee, texts for the mentor(s), the graduation certificate and support and resources from EfM Canada. Students are expected to purchase their own text books and interlude books from their preferred bookseller, prior to the beginning of their class. One of the advantages to the student will be the ability to choose new books, used books, borrowed books or E-books according to their own preference and need.

Each of the four years of the EfM programme has been given an alphabetical designation:

• 2025-2026 - Year A
• 2026-2027 - Year B
• 2023-2024 - Year C
• 2024-2025 - Year D

A new Reading and Reflection Guide for Year C, revised to include assignments appropriate to the current reading texts, and new Interlude texts for exploring the theme of Living as Spiritually Mature Christians. The RRG will be produced in Canada. It will support the work of the whole group and it will be supplied to each student, by EfM Canada, when he/she is registered in a group.

• The Reading and Reflection Guide provides weekly reading assignments, reflection questions, and additional supportive resources for the group.
• The entire group uses the same Guide each year—Volume A, B, C, or D.
• Each Volume has a particular focus: Volume A, “Living Faithfully in Your World,” works with the contexts of a person’s life;
• Volume B builds on “Living Faithfully in the Global Village;”
• Volume C "Living as Spiritually Mature Christians" works with the contexts of our personal spiritual lives.
• Volume D is about our “Our Journey into God”.
• Each Volume contains Part One, the reading and reflection directions and;
• Part Two, has the supportive materials, such as methods of spiritual autobiography and theological reflection.

Things to note in the Reading Assignments:

• There are five primary units in each Volume.
• Each Primary Unit has six sessions each.
• There are two interlude units in each Volume, and each interlude Unit has two sessions each.
• There is an Organization Session at the beginning and a Closing Session at the end to bring the total number of group sessions to thirty-six (36) in the EfM academic year.

The core value of EfM is Theological Reflection and continuous learning about how to live what we believe in our daily life and work . There will be Theological Reflection in most sessions, and other common lessons and exercises, all done in a small group study format, once per week, with a mentor or mentors, Mentors will receive regular training to deepen their skills in group leadership and theological reflection. EfM, we are condifdent, will be transformational for participants.
